Description
First published in 1996, The William Makepeace Thackeray Library Volume III presents Anthony Trollope's critical study of Thackeray, drawn from John Morley's The English Men of Letters series. This scholarly volume establishes Thackeray's position within the literary establishment alongside canonical figures such as Spenser, Johnson, Milton, Chaucer, Pope and Wordsworth. Richard Pearson's introduction provides essential context for understanding how the work was received and the relationship between Trollope and Thackeray. Part of Routledge's Revivals series, this edition restores an important critical text that examines Thackeray's transition to respectability and his enduring influence on English literature. Ideal for scholars, students and readers interested in Victorian-era literary criticism and biographical studies.
