Cambridge University Press Cambridge Eschatology and the Saviour - Gospel of Mary Study

Explore the complexities of early Christian dialogue gospels with this scholarly work from Cambridge University Press. This volume focuses on the 'Gospel of Mary' within a broader analysis of a literary genre where Jesus engages in conversation with select disciples. These texts address fundamental questions regarding life, death, and the cosmos at the end of his earthly career. By examining New Testament, 'gnostic', and (proto-)orthodox texts, this book highlights the diverse theological perspectives found in these writings. Readers can study how teachings vary significantly across different documents, ranging from the affirmation of the resurrection of the flesh to its complete denial. This monograph provides a deep look into the variety of thought present in early Christian literature.
