Description

Explore a historical landmark in mathematical thought with The Scottish Book by Birkhauser. This second edition provides an updated and expanded collection of problems that originated from the informal discussions held at the Scottish Cafe in Lwow, Poland, during the interwar period. These problems were proposed by mathematicians who became leaders in fields such as functional and real analysis, group theory, measure and set theory, probability, and topology. Since World War II, the search for solutions to these mathematical challenges has continued, with prizes offered for their resolution. This book serves as a vital record of those legendary discussions and remains a significant resource for those studying algebra and advanced mathematical theory.

Key Features

This second edition from Birkhauser updates and expands the historically important collection first published in 1981.
