Description

Experience a rare moment in jazz history with this limited edition 2LP set from Elemental Music. Featuring the alto saxophone giant Art Pepper, An Afternoon in Norway: The Kongsberg Concert captures a previously unissued 1980 performance. Recorded live at the Kongsberg Jazz Festival, this recording finds Pepper in the middle of a powerful late-career renaissance. This hard-hitting quartet date features a stellar lineup, including Bulgarian pianist Milcho Leviev, bassist Tony Dumas, and drummer Carl Burnett. The music reflects the energy of a group that arrived in Norway following a busy schedule, delivering a performance that remains as vital today as it was in 1980. Audiophiles will appreciate the high-quality production, with the 180-gram vinyl mastered by Matthew Lutthans at The Mastering Lab. This deluxe package is designed for collectors and jazz enthusiasts who want to own a piece of bebop history. The set includes a gatefold package and an extensive booklet, providing deep context for this significant archival release.
