The purpose of this book is to make the students of Cost Accountancy and Management Accountancy preparing for professional Examinations like CMA., CPA, CA., CS., MBA., etc. and University Examinations like B.Com. and M.Com., fully acquainted with the basic Principles of costing, Cost Accountancy and make them well versed with the methods of solving problems. Though there are number of text books on the subject are available, as a Professor, Head of the Department in Accountancy and Costing, examiner in the subject for many years of university and professional examinations and practising Cost and Management Accountant, I have observed that most of the students for the professional Accountants and other examinations, are ill prepared for the work they are expected to perform to the satisfaction of the examiner, due to the text books they employ which contains an insufficient number of illustrations and too profuse a display of extraneous matter. Nowadays in examinations of professional Accountants. There is a great stress on practical work i.e. solving problems rather than on the theoretical part. Considering this fact I have prepared this book to cater the keen need of the students of cost accountancy. The basic Principles of each topic are explained in a nutshell avoiding unnecessary details, which will help students in acquiring mastery on the subject without any-body's help. As this book contains a very large number of illustrations (511 illustrations) taken or adopted from the examination papers of different universities and professional Institutes, I have confidence that it will help the students in understanding the methods of solving problems and acquiring mastery on the subject without any fear and tears. This Book contains a total 18 chapters divided into two parts. This first part contains 11 chapters Materials, Labor, Overheads, Cost Sheet, Operating costing, Contract Costing,, Process Costing, Joint and By-products, Control accounts, Reconciliation of costing profit with profit shown by financial books, Integral accounts etc, spread over about 435 pages and second part includes remaining 6 most important topics like Budgetary Control. Marginal Costing, Standard Costing, Ratio Analysis, Fund Flow ad cash flow, Capital Budgeting etc. I am sure that this book(Both parts) will raise and increase the confidence in the minds of the students in the very vast and very complex subject of Advanced Cost Accountancy as well as Management accountancy and will help them in increasing their Score in Examination. The book covers almost the entire syllabi of costing papers of all Universities and professional examinations like that of ICMAI, ICAI, ICSI, MBA., etc. I request students to have complete mastery and to gain full confidence on the subject, they should themselves try to solve all problems included in the book and then compare with solutions. I think this book will prove to be the best companion of the students of Cost Accountancy and Management Accounting. Though all care has been taken in preparing the book, it is my duty to admit that certain shortcomings and errors might have crept in un-noticed. I request the students and my learned colleagues to bring them to my notice. I will be grateful in accepting and correcting them in the next edition.
