Two Worlds: Memoirs on Dissociative Identity Disorder

The Founding Trauma and the Fractured Mind Jericho’s life was cleaved by deep betrayal, starting in infancy. After surviving severe abuse from his parents, he found a fragile sanctuary with his grandmother and uncle in Hobbs, New Mexico, a home characterized by meticulous order and "magic". The Unbearable Moment: At age four, an incident in Roswell resulted in a profound memory blank, shattering the child's world. Internal Protectors: In an act of self-preservation, his mind fractured, creating two powerful internal allies to bear the burden and protect the host from the full horror of the secret. Alistair (The Protector) Alexander (The Instructor) ️ Betrayal, Isolation, and the Descent The growing storm of trauma included years of unchecked molestation by a cousin (Bryce), leading Alistair to develop a desperate, high-stakes game of "hide-and-seek" to ensure survival. This fear was compounded by the devastating loss of his two siblings, who chose a fantasy life with their estranged mother, leaving Jericho completely exposed. The Escape into Chemical Bliss: Undiagnosed physical pain from spina bifida led to a prescription for opiates. The first pill offered not just physical relief, but an emotional numbness and "bliss" that silenced the trauma. This quickly escalated into addiction and a life fueled by constant performance and deception. The System's Failure: His subsequent overdose and self-harm incidents led to institutionalization, where he was branded a "delinquent" and confined with a GPS ankle bracelet. Though he found brief moments of peace and his first kiss with a boy named Jared, the system failed to address the root trauma. The Ultimate Betrayal: Back home, his uncle's partner, Juan, launched a campaign of psychological and physical abuse, turning his uncle into a "puppet" and destroying Jericho's few sources of happiness, including his treasured video games. A final plea for acceptance from his biological mother was met with hateful, drunken rejection. ️ The Price of Powerlessness and the Road to Grace Jericho found a safe harbor with his boyfriend Lorenzo's family, who offered unconditional acceptance despite his troubled history. However, the silent weight of his sexual trauma led to another overdose. In the hospital, the secret finally broke, confessing the full weight of the abuse to his mothers. A New Kind of Betrayal: His recovery was violently disrupted when Lorenzo betrayed him with his new boyfriend, Jacob, shattering his faith in love and sending him into years of isolating alcoholism and rage.. The Final Vow: After the death of his grandmother, his anchor, while he was high, he reached the terrifying bottom. Homeless and desperate, he broke the most important vow of his life: he tried methamphetamine. Surrender to Sanity: After a long, harrowing period of meth use, failed attempts at sobriety, and the diagnosis of Schizoaffective Bipolar Disorder type-2 and DID, he found his breakthrough in Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT), which forcibly quieted his mind. His final, sustained sobriety was won not by willpower, but by admitting powerlessness and accepting the grace of others. Two Worlds is a raw, powerful narrative about a survivor who wrestled with the external cruelty of the world and the internal chaos of his own mind, ultimately finding that the strength to heal lay in the surrender of his pride.
