Majosta Special Relativity as Geometry: Theory & Solved Problems

``Special Relativity as Geometry: Theory & Solved Problems" begins where few physics books dare to start --- with optical illusions. From the Ames room to checkerboard shadows and rotating snakes, the book opens by asking: What if the brain’s susceptibility to illusion is not a weakness, but a gateway to understanding the warping of space and time? These perceptual tricks serve as training wheels for a deeper kind of intuition: one rooted not in everyday experience, but in the geometry of spacetime itself. Unlike conventional textbooks that present Einstein’s theory through algebra and paradoxes, this book builds special relativity from first principles using visual reasoning, geometric constructions, and affine transformations. It treats time dilation, length contraction, simultaneity, and the Lorentz transformation not as memorized results, but as visual invariants of a unified spacetime. Readers are guided through spacetime diagrams, world-lines, and relativistic experiments such as the Michelson–Morley setup and twin paradox --- all with conceptual clarity and geometric elegance. The use of illusions is not decorative: it shapes the reader’s spatial intuition in preparation for interpreting the counterintuitive structure of Minkowski geometry. Featuring a couple of solved problems --- including tricky and subtle numerical examples --- the book blends rigorous mathematical development with pedagogical insight. It is ideal for undergraduates, advanced high school students, educators, and independent learners who want to see relativity not as a set of equations, but as the natural geometry of a strange and beautiful universe. If you've ever doubted whether spacetime curvature could feel as vivid as visual perspective or optical deception, this book will show you how illusion becomes insight.
