Elbrus Expedition 1974. The first UAZ-469 ran from the assembly line of the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant on December 15, 1972. This all-wheel drive off-road vehicle has been produced for more than 39 years and actively used in both military and civil service. Since the mid-1970s, the UAZ-469 became the most important commanding vehicle of the Soviet Army as well as in the countries of the Warsaw Pact. It has been delivered to Cuba, Vietnam and African countries. The vehicle could carry up to seven people, including the driver, or up to 600 kg of load. In addition, the UAZ-469 was able to pull a trailer weighing 850 kg. A removable tarpaulin protected passengers from bad weather. If necessary, the tarpaulin can be removed and the windscreen can be folded onto the bonnet. This significantly reduced the height of the vehicle, which allowed transport by air, in a helicopter or plane.
