Description

In the early 1980s, during a period when the world of rallying was dominated by rear-wheel drive models such as the Fiat 131 Abarth, the Ford Escort RS, the Lancia Stratos, the Opel Ascona 400, and the Porsche 911, Audi sparked a true revolution with the introduction of the Quattro all-wheel-drive system. This marked the beginning of an adventure that has fascinated and continues to captivate enthusiasts of the sport. The Quattro is also closely linked to the story of Michèle Mouton, the only woman to have won a round in the World Rally Championship, along with many other unique achievements, such as the absolute speed record on a special stage. In 1983, Stig Blomqvist drove his car over a special stage of 81.5 km at an average speed of 189.53 km/h! The adventures at Pikes Peak, Trans Am, IMSA, and DTM have not been forgotten either - periods during which Audi demonstrated that all-wheel drive offers a supreme advantage, even on the asphalt of circuits. The entire history of the Quattro car and the quartet formed by Stig Blomqvist, Hannu Mikkola, Michèle Mouton, and Walter Röhrl awaits discovery over 250 pages, which include not only the complete results but also a list of all the special stages won by the Audi Quattro in the World Championship.
