Lucian Bernhard (1883–1972) was a luminary of 20th-century graphic design and typography in Germany and the US, known especially for his advertising work and posters. This volume gathers an exquisite selection of ephemera from Bernhard’s career, now held by the Letterform Archive collection, with a particular focus on his foundry specimens. Slim booklets designed to introduce new typefaces and show off their uses, these specimens offer unparalleled access to type as it was first meant to be seen. This trifold hardcover portfolio contains nine bound-in softcover facsimile booklets of these specimens, plus a single facsimile booklet contained in an interior pocket.
