Description

Niterra is a leading manufacturer of lambda sensors for original equipment and the aftermarket. Car and motorbike manufacturers, dealers and workshops have been relying on the sensor specialist's expertise for decades. Lambda sensors are one of the most important technologies for reducing pollutant emissions. The lambda sensor determines the residual oxygen content in the exhaust gas and provides the vehicle's engine control unit (ECU) with precise information about the current mixing ratio of air and fuel, the so-called lambda value (λ). Based on this information, the control unit can permanently optimise the fuel-air ratio. The lambda sensor therefore not only contributes to the effective reduction of pollutant emissions, but also optimises fuel consumption and ensures a long service life for the catalytic converter. As the lambda sensor is subject to a certain amount of ageing, it should be checked at regular intervals to ensure that it is working properly and replaced if necessary. Any malfunctions are noticeable through higher fuel consumption, lower engine performance and increased exhaust emissions. If a vehicle fails the exhaust emissions test (AU), replacing the lambda sensor could reduce the exhaust emission values to the prescribed values.
