This book was written from the viewpoint of someone who has had Complex PTSD with a significant improvement in symptoms over time. I also wrote it from the perspective of someone who has found numerous benefits along the difficult, winding path to Complex PTSD recovery. Complex PTSD may be brought on by anything from horrific trauma to gross neglect. Many survivors grow up in homes that aren't really their homes; they live in sometimes-dangerous households that are just as cold and heartless as orphanages. Trauma may be firmly ingrained in your mind, spirit, and body if you spent a significant amount of your childhood feeling unwelcome, dislikable, rejected, disliked, and/or despised. This book serves as a useful, approachable self-help manual for overcoming the aftereffects of childhood trauma and leading a meaningful and satisfying life. It is well shown with instances from my own and my clients' recovery experiences. This book is also intended for individuals who do not themselves have Comlex PTSD but want to understand and support a loved one who does. The Book puts you in the the direction you need to recover from traumatic experiences and steps that include the fundamentals of healing from trauma, to become a full person by: Interventions that are crucial to enhancing distress tolerance, cultivating self-compassion, strengthening mindful bodily awareness, and facilitating trauma healing Points for reflection that might be used at various stages of the therapeutic process Emotional flashbacks, knowledge of the four types of trauma survivors, distinction between the inner and outer critic, recovery from emotional and self-abandonment-related depression, self-reparenting and reparenting by committee, and breakdown of the hierarchy of self-injurious behaviors that childhood trauma survivors are forced to adopt are all topics covered in this book The book also serves as a road map to help you comprehend the mostly linear course of recovery, to recognize what you have already done, and to help you decide what is best to focus on and prioritize right now. This in turn helps you recognize the symptoms of your recovery and form realistic expectations about the pace of your recovery. I hope that by following this road map, you will be able to heal in a way that enables you to become an unwavering source of kindness and self-compassion for yourself. I also hope that as a result of your journey, you will meet at least one other person who will love you sufficiently and reciprocally in that way.
