The Three Musketeers (Les Trois Mousquetaires) is a novel by Alexandre Dumas, père. It describes the experiences of a young fellow named d'Artagnan after he ventures out from the home to turn into a musketeer. D'Artagnan isn't one of the musketeers of the title; those are his companions Athos, Porthos, and Aramis — indistinguishable companions who live by the aphorism, "One for all, and for one".The Three Musketeers was first distributed in sequential structure in the magazine Le Siècle between March and July 1844.
