Driven by a state-of-the-art microcomputer, BC Connect in addition to monitoring safety and efficient battery charging, automatically minimizes energy consumption and guarantees a high level of protection thanks to its spark-proof anti-spark system and its protections against overloads, reverse polarity and short circuits. Despite its compactness, it is equipped with a very robust shell that prevents slippage and makes it resistant to scratches, drops, accidental crushing, UV rays and water (IP44). Charging algorithm - charging program The charger is internally controlled by microprocessor which monitors the battery status in real time and automatically performs 8 charge cycles. Step 1 - Initialization: Verify that one or more cells are not short-circuited and then the battery is in a position to be charged/recovered. Step 2 - Recovery: If the battery is in extreme discharge condition starting at 1.25v, the device attempts a recovery, to return it to higher voltages compatible with the next step. Step 3 - Light charge: If the battery is significantly discharged, the device delivers a light pulse current to the battery to pass the critical phase. Step 4 - Main charge: during this phase the charger delivers full current to the battery, which can recover up to 85-90% of its capacity. Step 5 - Desulphation / Absorption: At this stage the battery is provided with a "controlled overcharge" capable of restoring the remaining 10-15% of the battery capacity, by desulfatation/recovery of lead-acid cells for mild to medium sulphation levels. Step 6 - Battery analysis: The device stops power supply for a few tens of minutes and verifies that the battery is able to retain the charge received during previous charging cycles. The test is periodically repeated at regular intervals. Step 7 - Maintenance: thanks to a specially designed electronic circuit, the device maintains the battery charge during periods of inuse, without overheating, overcharging and water/electrolyte loss. Step 8 - Equalization: During long-term maintenance, the device performs an equalization charge every 30 days to rebalance the battery cells, avoiding the phenomena of electrolyte stratification.
