Product Description With their stunning scenery, famous history, and unique folklore tales, it would be impossible not to fall in love with the islands we call home. We hand-make our award-winning spirits using historical Orcadian ingredients as our bases, utilising traditional crafting methods and enjoy telling Orkney’s forgotten tales through our spirits. Our distillery is located overlooking the Orkney Island’s famous Scapa Flow with a small custom built eco-friendly still taking centre stage. Everything you see and taste is created by hand with love and care by our tiny family team: from hand picking our base botanicals on the rolling hills, distilling the spirit slowly up to eight times for incredible mouthfeel, to personally hand filling and corking our beautiful bottles. The mermaid you see dancing within the bottle is what we would call a Selkie Wife here on our Islands. Tales of these mysterious and alluring seal people have been told for many generations in Orkney. As a family of seafarers, we have always had a particular interest in tales involving the wild seas. Gone are the days of tales by the fireside, so we continue to tell the story through our bottles and artwork. Our bottles are inspired by much simpler times, when you’d find local family businesses names etched into the glass itself, or carefully and intricately printed or painted on to the bottles. Aatta’s prism shape continues into the ornate glass stopper, which has the same amount of sides as the bottle, with an inlaid golden Selkie Wife coin. The bottle is designed to reflect the exceptional quality of the spirit within.
