Per quanto riguarda la prefazione generale del Liberty rimando al volume 0, dal titolo:Enciclopedia Illustrata Liberty a Milano_VOL_00_(Pref e Riepilogo Indici) di futura pubblicazione.Ogni qual volta notavo un edificio pregevole del Liberty. l’occhio non poteva sfuggire ai ferri battuti, balaustre, ringhiere, cancelli…E notavo subito che erano particolari, oltre che bellissimi.Era un po’ come se fossero scolpiti da uno scultore.Certo, ringhiere dei balconi fatti in serie erano sicuramente fusi, ma tutti gli altri no.Erano sicuramente fatti a mano, da buon maniscalco, riscaldata sui carboni ardenti e forgiata sull’incudine, martellata dopo martellata.Ricordo un vecchio racconto di Giovannino Guareschi, dal titolo “De mani benedette” in cui si descriveva, romanzandola, il lavoro del fabbro ferraio. Ed in giro per Milano ho visto parecchi esempi di lavori fatti da altre due mani benedette, a partire dai piccoli particolari della Villa Fraccanoni, ora Clinica Columbus, con lampioni con libellule, allo splendido cancello delle farfalle, oppure le inferriate della Cà de Ciapp o di Palazzo Berri Meregalli.
