Today most of the people in the world now have suffered from Alzheimer’s disease. Alzheimer’s destroys brain cells, causing problems with memory, thinking and behavior severe enough to affect work, lifelong hobbies or social life. Alzheimer’s gets worse over time, and it is fatal. Today it is the seventh-leading cause of death in the world. Today one cannot depend on the single drug for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. There are many drug therapies for the treatment of AD. Additionally, screening and early diagnosis provides an avenue for trial of the new range of medications with some potential for slowing progression of some dementias. For all of these reasons, screening people reporting loss of memory is a valuable approach to promote. The primary goals of treatment of patients with AD are to improve quality of life and maximize functional performance by enhancing cognition, mood, and behavior. Treatments include pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic approaches. Drugs such as Tacrine, Donepezil, Rivastigmine, selegiline, valproate, memantine, clioquinol and various antioxidants are used to improve the quality of life. Therefore, the pharmaceutical formulations with combination of drugs have shown an increasing trend to counteract other symptoms specific to one drug formulations hence analytical chemist will have to accept the challenges of developing reliable methods for the analysis of drugs in such formulations.
