Description

Limited edition deluxe boxset. 180g LP on virgin vinyl mastered from the original analogue master tapes. Includes 40-page LP size booklet, never before seen photos from the original sessions and the complete 88-page English edition of the iconic comic book 'Barney Et La Note Bleue' by Jacques de Loustal & Philippe Paringaux. Plus a bonus CD of a previously unissued radio France live broadcast. French saxophonist Barney Wilen came to international fame in 1957 when he joined Miles Davis on the soundtrack of Louis Malle's film noir classic 'Ascenseur pour l'échafaud', leading to a string of his own albums as leader and a jazz national hero. The release of the LP La Note Bleue in 1987 marked a pinnacle of his career, winning the Grand Prix Jazz de l'Académie Charles Cros as 'The Best French Jazz Album of 1987'. That now legendary album followed the success of a Jacques de Loustal & Philippe Paringaux comic book partly inspired by Wilen's life, titled 'Barney et la Note Bleue'.
