XD Extra Low Dispersion Multi Treated Lenses As in the previous BD XD series, the new BD XD II also houses low-dispersion lenses for impeccable image quality in terms of contrast, sharpness and purity of colors. XD Kowa lenses are not just ED lenses like those found in other brand tools. Each Kowa XD lens contains in its chemical composition a large amount of mineral fluorite crystals, the best material available today in the world of optics for chromatic aberration correction and for increasing optical qualities in terms of contrast and sharpness. The eyepieces and lenses are covered by the "Kowa repelling" (KR) treatment; the KR technology intervenes to prevent grease, fluids and dirt from accumulating on the surface of each treated lens, making cleaning much easier and more immediate. The ultra low dispersion C3 technology ensures exceptional performance, while the C3 multi-layer treatment applied to prisms allows greater reflectivity across the visible spectrum (400-700nm) than other commercially available treatments.
