Product Description Ronseal Diamond Hard Floor Varnish gives floors Diamond Hard protection from shoes, scratches and spills, while highlighting the natural beauty of the wood. It only takes 30 minutes to dry and can cover up to 18m2 per litre. Plus, it’s low odour so your home won’t smell of varnish for days on end. To prepare unvarnished floors, start by sanding the floor using 120 grit sandpaper and go along the length of the boards. Make sure to wear a face mask and let the dust settle, then vacuum and wipe it down with white spirit. If you notice any holes or imperfections use Ronseal Multi Purpose Wood Filler to fill them in. To prepare varnished floors, check the condition. This depends what state the floor is in. If the old varnish is just in need of a refresh, give it a light sand with 120 grit sandpaper. Let the dust settle, then give it a vacuum and wipe it down with white spirit. If the floors aren’t in good condition or the varnish is flaking off, sand the floor back to bare wood using a floor sander. Give the varnish a really good stir and test the colour on a small patch to make sure you’re happy with it. Use a 4” brush and start in the corner furthest from the door. Work along the length of two floorboards at a time, just make sure you don’t get trapped in the corner. Wait two hours for the first coat to dry before applying another. For the best protection, you’ll need three coats. Before you start the third coat, very lightly sand along the length of your floorboards with 240 grit sandpaper. You won’t need a floor sander for this bit. Wipe the floor down with a damp cloth and then apply the third coat. Your floor will be ready to walk on in only two hours. Wait 24 hours before bringing your furniture back in. After 72 hours your floor will be diamond hard. Directions Sanding, cleaning, applying the varnish, drying for 2 hours between coats, and applying 3 coats for best protection. Wait 24 hours before walking on the floor and 72 hours before bringing furniture back in.
