Description

Oval bread pot medium by Römertopf for keeping bread and rolls fresh and storing them for many days. Multiple test victories confirm that there is no better material for bread than natural clay. The special, breathable clay from the Westerwald provides the necessary air circulation like a natural air conditioning system with ingenious ventilation holes. The unglazed underside of the lid binds excess moisture. The lower part is glazed on the inside, making it easy to clean and dishwasher safe. Based on the traditional Roman cooking method in a clay pot, the so-called "Römertopf" was brought onto the market by Römertopf Keramik GmbH as a trademark in the 1970s. Cooking in a clay pot is a tradition in many national kitchens. Even hunters and gatherers used clay to cover their prey and protect it from the ashes when cooking in an open fire. Food cooks in the Römertopf without adding liquid or fat, so valuable ingredients are retained in full. The result is gently and aromatic stewed dishes made from a wide variety of ingredients.
