The numbers vary in styles, with "Our Roots (Began In Africa)", drawing on contemporary African beats, hip-hop, jazz and some good honest to goodness chanting of the title. With "Ocean Song" Sanders' playing describes beauty in a way which words simply can not. With "Khumba" Gambian rhythms merge with the jazz and, like the entire album, create a powerful affirmation of just how good life can be. Despite the differences in the tracks there is unity of feel to the album, connecting jazz with its musical heritage of Africa, and in turn giving it a distinct spiritual feel. And one to bring out the sunshine, no matter what the weather.
