About the Author Seema Purushothaman is a Professor at Azim Premji University, Bangalore, India. She uses interdisciplinary approaches to study social, ecological and economic change in livelihoods and policies in India, investigating their linkage to food and agrarian crises. Her research spans across the concept and issues of sustainability in and around forests and family farms. Her primary teaching interest is in sustainability as a concept, as an agrarian concern, and from an economic perspective.  Sheetal Patil is a researcher at Azim Premji University, Bangalore, India.
