About the Author Allen Speight is Associate Professor of Philosophy and Director of the Institute for Philosophy and Religion at Boston University. His work has ranged over a number of issues at the intersection of philosophy and religion, from the concept of forgiveness to the relation between art and religion in post-Kantian thought. A recipient of Fulbright, DAAD, NEH and Berlin Prize fellowships, his research has largely focused on the German philosophical tradition, especially Hegel and German Idealism. He is the author of Hegel, Literature and the Problem of Agency (Cambridge University Press, 2001) and The Philosophy of G.W.F. Hegel (McGill-Queen's University Press/Acumen, 2008) and the editor, with Brady Bowman, of Hegel: Heidelberg Writings (Cambridge University Press, 2009). Alice MacLachlan is an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at York University and president of the Canadian Society for Women in Philosophy. Her teaching and research interests lie in theoretical ethics, feminist philosophy, and social and political philosophy.
