About the Author Erik Denters studied international law at the University of Amsterdam and obtained a PhD at the VU University Amsterdam. He has lectured widely on public international law and international economic law and holds a teaching position at the VU University Amsterdam. He was visiting researcher at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank in 1990 and 1992. He co-edited volumes on international law and development and published Law and Policy of IMF Conditionality in 1996. He has been a member of the Monetary Committee of the International Law Association from 1992-2002. Annamaria Viterbo is Associate Professor of International Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Turin, Italy. She obtained a PhD in International Economic Law from Bocconi University, Milan. She was an intern at the European Central Bank (ECB) Legal Department, a Jean Monnet Fellow at the European University Institute, and a visiting professor at the IMF Legal Department. In 2012, she published International Economic Law and Monetary Measures. Her research interests mainly involve issues of international economic law, and she has published works on IMF, financial regionalism, investments, EMU, sovereign debt.
