Product Description This collection of seven studies evaluates the affect of various monetary policies and exchange rate arrangements on the economies of Argentina, Mexico and Brazil. They examine the role of currency board in Argentina, inflation targeting in Mexico and Brazil, international prudential regulation in reducing banking crisis, and credible commitment of the state in attracting FDI. There are also some theoretical and empirical studies on Mexico that evaluate the role of monetary policy in the economy, and analyze the determinants of bank disappearance. About the Author SIMA MOTAMEN-SAMADIAN is a Principal Lecturer in Economics and Director of the Centre for the Study of Emerging Markets (CSEM) at the Westminster Business School, UK. She obtained her MA and PhD in Economics from Essex University, and worked at the Tehran University, City University Business School, and Portsmouth University. She has co-edited International Debt and Central Banking in the 1980's with Z. Rez (Macmillan 1987), Emerging Markets: Past and Present Experiences, and Future Prospects with C.
