About the Author Prof Dr James Zhengliang Hu, LLM, PhD (Dalian). Professor of maritime and transport law, Director of Institute of Maritime Law and PhD supervisor in maritime and shipping law at Shanghai Maritime University, PhD supervisor in maritime law at Dalian Maritime University. He was a visiting scholar to the University of Antwerp and visiting professor to the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium. He was a draftsman of China Maritime Code, China Port Law, China Shipping Law and various Chinese maritime and shipping regulations. He acts as a legal advisor to the Ministry of Communications of the Peoples Republic of China. He is a member of the Board of Standing Directors of China Maritime Experts Committee, a member of the Board of Standing Directors of China Maritime Law Association, an arbitrator of China Maritime Arbitration Commission and of Shanghai Arbitration Court of International Shipping. He is also a practicing maritime lawyer of Wintell & Co Law Firm. His research interests include maritime law, shipping law, port law, transport law and maritime procedural law.
