About the Author Andrew M. Beresford is Professor of Medieval and Renaissance Studies at the University of Durham. He has published widely on Spanish hagiography and devotional literature, including monographs on Thaïs and Pelagia (2007), Agnes (2007), and Agatha and Lucy (2010). Lesley K. Twomey is Professor of Medieval and Golden Age Iberian Art and Literature at the University of Northumbria, Newcastle. She has published numerous articles on the Vita Christi and has published monographs focusing on maculist/immaculist debates dealing with Mary (2008) and Isabel de Villenas Vita Christi (2013). Her most recent monograph is due out with Tamesis: The Sacred Space: Constructing the Virgin Mary in Hispanic Literature from Gonzalo de Berceo to Ambrosio de Montesino.
