Esta edición de la Biblia ha sido realizada, bajo la dirección de Francisco Cantera y Manuel Iglesias, por un equipo de destacados profesores de los siguientes centros: Universidades Complutense (Madrid), Hebrea (Jerusalén), Gregoriana (Roma), Comillas (Madrid) y Pontificia de Salamanca y los Institutos Arias Montano del CSIC (Madrid) y B¡blico (Roma), y la Facultad de Teolog¡a de Granada, as¡ como el British Museum. Merece destacar la cuidada anotaci¢n de cr¡tica textual y las m£ltiples notas de carácter complementario: filológico, histórico, geográfico, exegético y teológico, que enriquecen esta edición, sobre todo en el Nuevo Testamento. Se ha puesto el mayor esfuerzo en la fidelidad a los textos originales, persiguiendo un rigor científico que ayude al lector a formarse juicio propio en los pasajes oscuros, tan frecuentes en los textos originales. En el aspecto formal destaca sobremanera el orden con que se presentan los libros del Antiguo Testamento: se ha respetado la distribución estricta de la Biblia hebrea; a continuación siguen los libros deuterocanónicos que transmite la Septuaginta. Tal agrupación tiene en cuenta tanto la pauta de las biblias rabínicas tradicionales como los criterios de las más modernas versiones ecuménicas. El afán de literalidad, clave de interpretación correcta de los textos, ha movido a los traductores a presentar transliterados los topónimos y los nombres de personas. Este procedimiento, en los nombres divinos, pretende incorporar toda la riqueza que el texto hebreo ofrece para expresar la divinidad.
