Les eaux souterraines constituent 97 % de l'eau douce mondiale et constituent une source majeure d'eau potable et une ressource essentielle pour les ressources en eau destinées à l'usage domestique et public. Leur qualité détermine leur valeur en tant que ressource et la manière dont elle affecte les eaux de surface. Malgré la demande croissante en eau souterraine, sa qualité est menacée par les processus géogéniques, les caractéristiques géologiques, les activités anthropiques et les prélèvements et stockages. La nappe phréatique de la plaine du Saïs est la principale source d'eau potable de la région de Fès-Meknès (Bassin de Saïs) au Maroc. Cependant ces eaux sont menacées par la surexploitation et par la pollution locale. Ainsi, cet ouvrage représente une contribution à l'évaluation de la qualité physico-chimique des eaux de la nappe phréatique de Saïs par la mesure des paramètres physicochimiques et des métaux lourds par la spectroscopie d’absorption atomique et une analyse de leurs distributions spatiales.
