Es wird versucht, den Kontext der Gründung des brasilianischen Instituts für Bibliographie und Dokumentation (IBBD) sowie seine Reflexivität bei der Konstruktion der Identität von Informationsfachleuten in Bibliothekswissenschaft und Dokumentation zu analysieren. Untermauert von sozialen, technologischen und kulturellen Faktoren und anderen wirtschaftlichen Interessen werden die Informationspolitiken den Kraftlinien gegenübergestellt, die die Konstruktion der Identität von Informationsfachleuten, die fließend und dynamisch ist, untermauern. Die methodischen Verfahren, die qualitativer und explorativer Natur sind, wurden in sieben Etappen durchgeführt, die von einer Umfrage und bibliographischen Recherchen über die Analyse von Primärdokumenten und mündlichen Überlieferungen bis hin zur Aufnahme in das Projekt Scientific Memories: Oral History of Information Science in Brazil reichen. Es wird davon ausgegangen, dass mit der Entwicklung dieser Studie viele weitere folgen werden, um den Kontext und die Faktoren zu verstehen, die die Konstruktion der Identität der Fachleute vor Ort sowie die Geschichte des ersten IKT-Instituts in Brasilien geprägt haben.
