Invasive Mykosen sind opportunistische Infektionen, die für eine hohe Morbidität und Mortalität (40%) bei Krankenhauspatienten verantwortlich sind, was zu erheblichen zusätzlichen Kosten für den Krankenhausaufenthalt führt. Unter den invasiven Mykosen stehen die systemischen Candidosen an erster Stelle, da sie immer häufiger auftreten und andere Infektionen verdrängen. Candida spp macht 70% bis 90% aller Arten invasiver Mykosen aus.Systemische Candidosen treten vor allem bei Patienten auf, die in Abteilungen mit immunsupprimierten Patienten untergebracht sind.Risikofaktoren und ein Kolonisationsindex von ≥0,5 in Hochrisikobereichen, vor allem auf Intensivstationen und in der Hämatologie/ACC, sind ein prädiktiver Faktor für systemische Candidose. Die Therapie muss eingeleitet werden, um die Sterblichkeitsrate zu senken und die mit diesen Infektionen verbundenen Komplikationen zu vermeiden.
