Esta investigación se centra en el reconocimiento y la protección de las marcas en Nigeria. Los métodos de investigación que se emplearán son básicamente el método doctrinal de investigación y el enfoque explicativo de la investigación, mediante el uso de la fuente primaria y secundaria del derecho. A efectos de este trabajo, el examen del derecho de marcas se limitará esencialmente a la protección y el reconocimiento concedidos en virtud de las disposiciones legales. También se hará referencia a la jurisprudencia y a las leyes estatutarias de otras jurisdicciones como el Reino Unido, entre otras. El tema principal de este trabajo explorará las disposiciones de la Ley de Marcas y otra legislación pertinente promulgada para la protección, el reconocimiento y la aplicación de las marcas, y pone de manifiesto las lagunas inherentes a la Ley al tiempo que recomienda formas para el funcionamiento eficaz de las leyes de marcas.
