Description

Nepal is sinds mensenheugenis een onafhankelijk en soeverein land. De grens van Nepal wordt in het oosten, westen en zuiden omgeven door India. In het noorden ligt de Tibetaanse Autonome Regio (TAR) van China.De grenzen van Nepal zijn verschoven in de tijd en vaak in de historische periode. In 1806 werd het grondgebied van Nepal verlengd van een rivier in het oosten tot Kangra Fort in het westen. Op dezelfde manier werd het uitgebreid tot de samenvloeiing van de rivieren Gandak en Ganges in het zuiden tijdens Brits India. Het werd het 'Groot Nepal' genoemd. In 1809 werd de grens teruggetrokken naar Sutlej. Na de Anglo-Gorkha-oorlog werd de grens van Nepal in maart 1816 van Mechi in het oosten tot Mahakali in het westen geslonken. In de tussentijd werd de grens in december 1816 en november 1860 verder naar het zuiden uitgebreid tot de grens van het huidige Nepal. Er zijn echter conflicten, ruzies, opstootjes en kruisbestuivingen op eenenzeventig plaatsen en plekken in de huidige tijd met India.
