The history of the Russian imperial family has recently attracted the attention of many researchers. But if the flow of publications about the Romanovs themselves is steadily growing, then about their closest relatives who lived, served and occupied a certain position in Russia, the general public knows almost nothing. The aim of this research is to fill this gap by illuminating the stories of the Dukes of Leuchtenberg, the Russian Princes of Oldenburg and the Dukes of Mecklenburg. The bearers of the three above-mentioned surnames observed the tradition of serving Russia for several generations, their status in some cases was legally formalized, finally, they owned movable and immovable property in the Russian Empire. Thus, these families had the opportunity to leave a significant contribution, positive and not so positive, in the history of our country in the XIX - early XX centuries.
