Le rôle des signes est si important dans la conceptualisation qu'il est tentant pour les enseignants de considérer que seul le langage permet la pensée. Comme en outre, les enfants sourds n'ont pas accès naturellement à la langue française, la conclusion est souvent rapidement tirée que la surdité empêcherait la conceptualisation. C'est dans le champ des mathématiques que nous avons étudié les rapports entre activité expérientielle et activités langagières. A partir d'une analyse des pratiques d'enseignement des mathématiques à des élèves sourds, nous avons identifié les nouvelles compétences requises pour faire apprendre, dans des conditions professionnelles en mutation. En effet, la scolarisation des enfants à besoins éducatifs particuliers représente un véritable défi pour l'école, concilier le caractère universel du système éducatif et la singularité des élèves. Remplir cette mission implique de forts enjeux de formation.Nous avons analysé la pertinence de dispositifs de formation recherchant une véritable articulation entre théorie et pratique. Cette recherche de type Action-Formation-Recherche vise par des démarches qualitatives à mieux comprendre pour mieux agir.
