The original title of the only novel by Irish writer Oscar Wilde is "The Picture of Dorian Gray". First, a version of it was published in Lippincott's Monthly Magazine from Philadelphia in 1890. The now known, revised and expanded version was then published in 1891 by London publishing house Ward, Lock and Co. in book form. This novel, considered scandalous at the time, also played a role in the terrible fornication process against savages.
