L'acquisition de la morpho-syntaxe negative constitue depuis les annees soixante-dix un sujet tres debattu dans le domaine de l'acquisition des langues et du langage. Les travaux recents, notamment, montrent une veritable divergence d'opinions quant aux principes qui guideraient l'acquisition des particules de negation en langue seconde. La presente etude qui se base sur des donnees provenant d'un projet finance par la Societe Europeenne de la Science et intitule Â«L'acquisition d'une langue etrangere par des adultes immigresÂ» porte sur l'acquisition du systeme de la negation francaise par des locuteurs hispanophones et du systeme de la negation anglaise par des locuteurs italophones. Cette recherche, plus particulierement basee sur l'acquisition en Â«milieu naturelÂ», presente des implications theoriques d'ordre surtout psycholinguistique, cognitif et typologique. Tout en etant en outre fondee sur une approche fonctionnelle et conceptuelle, elle introduit le lecteur aux differentes perspectives - formelles et fonctionnelles - qui ont alimente le debat sur la maitrise de la negation en langue seconde dans les vingt dernieres annees.
