Analysis of multiphysics problems, and in particular, the simulation of fluid–solid interactions, has been the focus of intensive research in recent years. This is mainly because that numerical methods provide powerful and computationally efficient modern techniques for the solution of complex engineering problems. In the present book a novel mathematical model has been developed and employed as a tool for predictive filter design through definition of the stresses and deformations of porous media under working conditions. The failure criterion prediction that provides a chance to assess the filters suitability for a given process.
