Inhaltsangabe:Einleitung: Die vorliegende Arbeit widmet sich dem umfassenden Feld der Kooperation zwischen Organisationen. In ihr wird der Untersuchungsgegenstand sowohl aus der soziologischen, als auch der wirtschaftswissenschaftlichen Perspektive betrachtet. Das Leitmotiv der Studie liegt in der Annahme, dass organisationsübergreifende Kooperation mittlerweile den Status einer zentralen Ressource erlangt hat. Diese Kernthese wird durch die Verdeutlichung realer Entwicklungstendenzen belegt. Da der Anspruch, diese gesamtgesellschaftlich relevanten Veränderungsprozesse - namentlich eine zunehmende Ausbildung interorganisatorischer Netzwerke - in ihrer ausgeprägten Komplexität darzustellen, den Rahmen einer Diplomarbeit sprengt, konzentrieren sich die Ausführungen auf interorganisatorische Vernetzungsprozesse im Bereich der Ökonomie. Insbesondere in dem Kapitel über regionale Netzwerke rücken darüber hinaus Wechselwirkungen zwischen Unternehmungen, politisch-administrativen und wissenschaftlichen Akteuren in den Mittelpunkt der Diskussion. Gang der Untersuchung: Die vorliegende Arbeit gliedert sich in acht Hauptkapitel. Die einzelnen Abschnitte stellen unterschiedliche Aspekte interorganisatorischer Netzwerke dar. Zunächst wird mit der Diskussion der in der Wirtschaftswissenschaft verbreiteten Transaktionskostentheorie (Kapitel 2) und der genuin soziologisch orientierten Systemtheorie (Kapitel 3) ein theoretischer Bezugsrahmen formuliert. Aufbauend auf den theoriegeleiteten Grundstein wird der Versuch unternommen, eine allgemein gültige Definition von interorganisatorischen Netzwerken zu entwickeln und typische Merkmale zu identifizieren (Kapitel 4). Des Weiteren wird auf den Tatbestand hingewiesen, dass interorganisatorische Netzwerke kein einheitliches Phänomen darstellen.
