In diesem Buch möchte ich mit der kontrastiven Untersuchung zum Deutschen und zu Yebekolo, einer in einem Teil von Kamerun gesprochenen Beti-Bantusprache – einen Beitrag zur Syntaxforschung leisten. Den Schwerpunkt der Arbeit bilden die Verschiebungen von sog. [±W]-Phrasen (Ā-/W-Bewegung). Der Beschreibung von Umstellungsoperationen lege ich die Annahmen der generativen Grammatik zugrunde, wie sie im Prinzipien- und Parameteransatz (Chomsky 1981, 1986,1991,1993 und 1995) erarbeitet worden sind. Bei der kontrastiven Studie zeige ich, dass Ähnlichkeiten im Yebekolo und Deutschen bestehen, insofern als sich eine Satzkonstituente – in der Regel aufgrund von informationsstrukturellen Bedürfnissen – irgendwohin im Satz bewegt. Allerdings ergeben sich Problemfelder daraus, dass die für Yebekolo typischen sprachspezifischen Eigenschaften nicht im Rahmen der Prinzipien- und Parametertheorie erklärbar sind: Yebekolo zeichnet sich durch das Nominalklassen- und Tonsystem aus. Hinsichtlich der Konstituentenabfolge lässt sich feststellen,dass Yebekolo eine strikt konfigurationelle Sprache ist.Die SVO-Abfolge wird durch die Auswirkung des ergativen Musters (Split ergativity) festgelegt wird.
