In Folge der HIV-Infektion werden gemäß dem anthroposophischen Weltbild die vier Wesensglieder des Menschen aufgrund einer veränderten Rhythmik entkoppelt und ist das Immunsystem in seiner Abwehrfunktion geschwächt. Im Rahmen der vorliegenden prospektiven, Open-label multizentrischen Phase II/III-Studie wurde die immunmodulative Wirksamkeit und Toxizität eines Mistelauszuges VaQuFrF bei HIV-positiven Patienten über 48 Wochen geprüft. Innerhalb der Studie wurden bei 103 Patienten insgesamt 1827 Unerwünschte Ereignisse (UE) registriert, alle gemeldeten UEs waren leichten (94%) bis mittleren (6%) Schweregrades. Die UEs mit einem gesicherten Kausalzusammenhang mit VaQuFrF waren fast ausnahmslos die von der Iscador-Konzentration unabhängige Lokalreaktion nach der Iscador QuFrF-Injektion. In der Dosissteigernden Phase wurden vorwiegend Müdigkeit, Grippeähnliche Symptome, Fieber >38°C und Kopfschmerzen gemeldet, die Ausdruck des Ansprechens auf die Therapie mit Iscador QuFrF sind. In den immunologischen Wirkungen konnte kein Unterschied zwischen der adjuvanten Therapie von Iscador QuFrF zur ART und der Monotherapie mit Iscador QuFrF nachgewiesen werden.
