Description

Migrantenkinder wachsen mindestens zweisprachig auf. Welche Bedeutung hat da das Beherrschen der Erstsprache für den erfolgreichen Erwerb der Zweitsprache? Um Antworten auf diese Frage zu erhalten, wurde eine sprachwissenschaftlich fundierte Intervention konzipiert und mit Migrantenkindern während der zwei Jahre im Kindergarten durchgeführt. Die Ergebnisse zeigen unter anderem, dass diese Kinder beim Schuleintritt nicht einfach über ungenügende Sprachkompetenzen verfügen. Mit der Intervention sind ihre Kompetenzen in der Erstsprache gleich gut wie diejenigen einheimischer Kindergartenkinder in Deutsch. Die Lernfortschritte in der Zweitsprache Deutsch sind auch nicht kleiner als in der Erstsprache. Die Sprachkompetenzen der Migrantenkinder in Deutsch sind jedoch beim Eintritt in den Kindergarten derart gering, dass die Rückstände bis zum Schuleintritt längst nicht aufgeholt werden können.
