Die Arbeit beginnt mit einer umfangreichen Darstellung über den Einfluss des Computers auf den Analysisunterricht. Typische Modellbildungsprozesse, Verbessern, Übertragen und Verallgemeinern bekannter Problemlösestrategien werden als zentrale Konzepte für einen zielführenden Analysisunterricht gesehen. Zusätzlich werden aber auch Möglichkeiten und Grenzen mathematischer Modellbildung aufgezeigt. Auch allgemein anerkannte fundamentale Prinzipien wie etwa jene der Approximation oder jene der funktionalen Variation werden vom Autor als Leitideen der Analysis gesehen. Modellbildung vor allem unter dem Gesichtspunkt der Funktionalen Beschreibung ist auch das zentrale Konzept bei der Entwicklung der nachfolgenden Einheiten zu Extremwertaufgaben und Integralrechung. In zahlreichen Beispielen und Abbildungen wird der sinnstiftende Einsatz des CAS Mathematica als geeignetes Werkzeug im Analysisunterricht illustriert. M@th Desktop, eine auf Mathematica basierende Unterrichtssoftware, erleichtert Schüler/Innen den Einsatz des Computers. Die einzelnen Aufgaben sind in den Kontext des aktuellen österreichischen Oberstufenlehrplans bzw. der Sek. II in Deutschland gestellt.
