Case-Based Reasoning oder Fallbasiertes Schließen als Teilbereich der Künstlichen Intelligenz wurde in den letzten Jahren in einer Vielzahl kommerzieller und forschungsnaher Anwendungen eingesetzt. Das Anwendungsspektrum reicht von klassischen Expertensystemen bis hin zu Produktkonfiguratoren im Internet. Allerdings unterliegen die bestehenden Systeme immer noch Restriktionen bei der Verarbeitung von Textdokumenten und bei der Integration in bestehende Informationsinfrastrukturen. Am Beispiel der strukturierten Suche in Wirtschaftsnachrichten stellt Markus Pfuhl eine alternative Vorgehensweise vor, die eine Verarbeitung großer Dokumentenmengen ermöglicht und zugleich mit der Verwendung Relationaler Datenbanken auf einem weitverbreiteten Standard der Datenbanktechnolgie basiert. Abschließend untersucht er die Strukturierung von Textdokumenten, denn ihr kommt auch bei Fragestellungen des Wissensmanagements eine wachsende Bedeutung zu.
