Band der Reihe „Die Fibeln Europas“ zeigt die Vielfältigkeit und die Formenentwicklung der Fibeln der Latènezeit sowie der römischen Fibeln und ihre Nachbildungen in den eroberten und freien Gebieten auf. Beginnend mit den deutschsprachigen Ländern werden die Fibeln der Latènezeit und ihre provinzialrömischen Formtypen behandelt. Nachfolgend werden gallische Fibeln aus Frankreich, keltoide Fibeln aus Britannien sowie der große Formenreichtum Skandinaviens und Osteuropas präsentiert. Auch werden besondere Formenentwicklungen aus Südrussland und der Ukraine im Detail aufgezeigt. Sonderformen von der Iberischen Halbinsel und ein Schwerpunkt auf südosteuropäische Fibeln sowie die Grundtypen aus Italien runden die geschichtliche Entwicklung der europäischen Fibeln ab. Das vorliegende Fachbuch vereint Dutzende wissenschaftliche Beiträge bekannter Autoren zu einem fesselnden Abriss der Fibelgeschichte und gibt die faszinierende Formenentwicklung verständlich wieder. Auch die Herstellungstechnik, die Verwendung als Schmuckstück sowie die Bestattungsweise mit Fibeln als Grabinventar wird erläutert. Mit über 2900 Abbildungen und durch das umfassende Begriffsregister sowie die zeitliche und regionale Einteilung des jeweiligen Fibeltyps (auch von Sonderformen) lässt sich auch der 2.
