Durch medieninhärente Eigenschaften kommt es bei einem Medienwechsel zum Informationsverlust, der durch spezifische Eigenheiten des neuen Mediums ausgeglichen wird. Der Abklärung des Begriffes „Medium“ als Vermittlungsinstanz im allgemeinen Sprachgebrauch folgt die systematische Analyse der Medien und intermedialen Erscheinungsformen als „Tools“ bei Werner Reiterer. Auf die Themenauswahl und Bezüge in ortsspezifischen, kulturellen, religiösen oder politischen Ausstellungskonzepten wird eingegangen.
