Ohne IT wäre das moderne Wirtschaftsleben nicht mehr denkbar. Dementsprechend steigt der IT-Anteil an den Gesamtkosten und an den Investitionsbudgets von Unternehmen. Das IT-Management steht dadurch vermehrt vor der Herausforderung, den Nachweis der Wirtschaftlichkeit zu erbringen und den Wertbeitrag der IT am Unternehmenserfolg messbar zu machen. In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird ein Werkzeug des IT- Controllings - das IT-Kennzahlensystem - vorgestellt. Anhand der Entwicklung eines IT- Kennzahlensystems im Unternehmen werden die Erfolgsfaktoren und Problemfelder bei der Konzipierung erarbeitet. Einen weiteren Schwerpunkt der vorliegenden Arbeit bildet das Information Design. Es wird ein Konzept für die Darstellung der erarbeiteten Kennzahlen erstellt. Außerdem wird untersucht, ob durch die Anwendung von Information Design ein Mehrwert hinsichtlich der Qualität der Aussage und der Akzeptanz der Zielperson/Zielgruppe entsteht. Abschließend wird der Frage nachgegangen, inwieweit ein IT-Kennzahlensystem den Wertbeitrag der IT am Unternehmenserfolg transparent und messbar machen kann.
