Während Untersuchungen in unmissverständlicher Weise immer wieder auf die Korrelation zwischen sprachlicher Benachteiligung und Schulerfolg bei Kindern mit Migrationshintergrund hinweisen, bleiben die Mechani-smen, durch die sich die negativen Einflüsse auf die verschiedenen Fächer auswirken, sowohl den Eltern als auch dem Lehrer selbst verborgen. Dies zeigt sich vor allem im Fach Mathematik, ein von den meisten Lehrern spracharm gehaltenes Fach, in dem aber Schüler mit Migrationshintergrund, und dabei besonders Kinder italienischer Herkunft, im Vergleich zu ihren deutschen Kameraden weit zurückbleiben. In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird der Versuch unternommen, am Beispiel eines konkreten Falls zu zeigen, dass Mathematik letztendlich ein ?kulturelles Produkt? ist, dessen Gesetzmäßigkeiten nach ihren interkulturellen Hintergründen und Verwicklungen hinterfragt werden sollen.
