Das vorliegende Buch beschäftigt sich primär mit der Frage, wie Volkshochschulen als Ort der Vermittlung von universitären Inhalten dienen können. Einerseits erfolgt eine Untersuchung verschiedener Spezifika von universitären Vorträgen im Bereich Mathematik/ Statistik im Zuge des Projekts? University Meets Public? Hier werden insbesondere Wünsche und Vorstellungen neben möglichen Optimierungen hinsichtlich Zeit und Ort eruiert werden. Diehistorischen Wurzeln des Projektes University Meets Public werden untersucht und ebenso der Weg und die Entwicklung im Bereich Erwachsenen- und Kinderweiterbildung aufgezeigt. Zugleich wird die mögliche Zukunftsperspektive, nämlich das Buchen von Vorträgen mittels der E-Learning-Plattform MOODLE, betrachtet. Andererseits werden im Speziellen Kinderworkshops mit Schwerpunkt Mathematik/Statistik behandelt. Hier war von besonderem Interesse, welche pädagogischen Konzepte sich im Rahmen von Kinderworkshops erfolgreich (also durch regelmäßigen Bedarf) durchgesetzt haben. Dieses Buch richtet sich an Personen, welche in der Erwachsenenbildung tätig sind. Pädagoginnen und Pädagogen, aber auch Mathematikerinnen und Mathematiker finden wertvolle Hinweise.
